Making a popular return to the NEC in March was the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show. The event welcomed car clubs, specialist dealers, restorers and traders from around the Country with the emphasis on restoring your classic vehicle as well as displaying them. The event saw specialist demonstrations during the weekend, car rebuilds, classic car displays, celebrity guests appearing on the main stage, car auction and the ever popular auto jumble.

Among the club displays there was also the special themed displays which included Practical Classics Barn Finds, Practical Classics Restorer of the Year, Federation skills zone and Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership. At the Sporting Bears dream rides section visitors could pay for a ride in their dream classic to raise money for charity. On the Classic World live stage motoring celebrities including Ant Anstead, Fuzz Townsend from Car SOS, Mike Brewer and Mark ‘Elvis’ Priestley from Wheeler Dealers were joined by members of the Practical Classics team to give advice and talk about their projects.

The end of the show saw the awards presented, the winners were;

Practical Classics Best Barn Find – Harry Larcombe, 1949 Jowett Bradford.

Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership – Laura Godtschalk, 1992 VW Golf Cabriolet ‘Katie’.

Best Club Display (Small stand) – Boston Classic Car Club.

Best Club Display (Large stand) – Gay Classic Car Group.

Best Live Working on Vehicles at the Show – Morris Minor Owners Club.

Best Live Demonstration on a Car Club Stand – Jowett Car Club.

Best Unrestored Car at the Show – Daniel Moore’s 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25 Enclosed Limousine, on the Rolls Royce & Bentley Enthusiasts stand.

Best Restored Car at the Show – Lawrence Delaney’s Hillman Husky, on the Hillman Owners Club stand.

Celebrities Choice Award – Joe McColl’s 1967 Jaguar S-Type, on the Jaguar Owners Club stand.
