Following an absence due to the pandemic the popular Shuttleworth Scale Model Show returned for its twelfth running in February. The event was held in the museums engineering hanger where more than forty clubs and specialist traders attended with the collections Westland Lysander also in the hanger undergoing maintenance. Clubs from around the Country made the trip along with special interest groups displaying models covering aviation, military vehicles, figures, fantasy and ships. During the day visitors were also able to enjoy the resident collection of aircraft and vehicles.

At the end of the event there was a presentation of prizes. The John Morris Memorial Trophy for best in show went to David Scott’s Warhorse model. The 1:72 scale and smaller award went to Geoff Russell for his 1:144 scale model of the DH Comet test tank, Best 1:48 scale went to Robert Wood’s Ju88 while larger than 1:48 scale went to Steve Abbey for his Kettenkrad. There was also an award for best junior modeller, this was won by Charlie Cook for his 1:72 DH Mosquito.

The event again proved popular attracting crowds of visitors during the day and will no doubt return in 2023.
