The Swedefest truck show returns to Mid Suffolk Showground Stonham Aspel for the fourth year running on 21st/22nd September. This show has the tag line ‘Two Tribes, One Show’ and this could not be more accurate as the show exclusively caters for Volvo and Scania trucks of all ages. Last year was my first visit to Swedefest and I was pleasantly surprised at the turn out. Expecting mainly local based trucks I found trucks had travelled from all over the United Kingdom including Scotland and Northern Ireland. Along with the new trucks there was also a large number of older and classic trucks representing both marques. In fact, last year was the biggest to date with some 280 trucks in attendance. Another unusual feature is the trucks are displayed by vehicle type, for example Volvo FH’s, Volvo F, Scania 143, Scania R ect. While this does separate fleets that attend it does create a unique layout. The show is held over two days and Saturday will see trucks arriving through the day while Sunday will see trophy presentations. The show will also feature stands from the regional Volvo and Scania dealers along with other related trade stands. The entrance price of just £7.50 for a weekend pass offers great value with free parking on-site.

The show ground is part of the Stonham Barns complex which also hosts an Owl sanctuary, Adventure golf, Teapot pottery, shopping and on Sunday morning a car boot sale. The showground has disabled and wheelchair access with toilets and visitors are welcome to bring dogs as long as they are on a lead and owners clean up after them.
