The much missed Royal Norfolk Show made its return in 2022 following a two year enforced break due to the Covid pandemic. Organised and run by the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association the event featured all the usual elements and activities that make the show such a popular event. Pre-event ticket sales had been high and with the Country enjoying a spell of hot and sunny weather attendance over the two days was thought to have exceeded the 90,000 predicted. To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen there were a number of special displays showing progress over the past seventy years along with a musical Royal Salute both days in the main arena. The show was also fortunate to receive a Royal visit on day one when Her Royal Highness Princess Anne visited the show.

Around the showground there were plenty of displays and entertainment for the visiting public to enjoy. Taking part in a number of display rings were the animal classes with various breeds of livestock including cattle, pigs, sheep and goats. Alongside those were the rings with equestrian competitions for light and heavy horses both in-hand and ridden while larger rings saw driving and jumping classes. The Grand Ring was the setting for the main events over the two days which included show jumping, scurry driving, heavy horse turnouts and displays from the Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display Team. Both days would also see Military Band displays and the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team while on day two the traditional closing ceremony was held that included representation from the locally based military, emergency services and local groups. For most the main event each day in the Grand Ring is the Grand Parade of cattle, sheep, goats, heavy horses and the Champion Pig which makes a spectacular site filling the ring. On day one this also included the prestigious Heygates Feeds Team of Five Competition for the best team of five cattle in their breeds, this year won by the team of Aberdeen Angus.

Keeping the traditions of an agricultural county show along with all the livestock and equine classes on display there were also a number of agricultural dealers showing the latest machinery. These were joined in a substantial trade area by local car and truck dealers along with trade stalls selling a variety of products including clothing, garden equipment and crafts. The was also the ever popular food hall that showcased locally produced products including butchers, cakes, beer, cider spirits.

Themed zones around the showground were also a big attraction for all ages attending the show. In the sports zone Norwich City had a large area where you could meet players and buy Norwich City merchandise. They were joined by host of local sporting clubs with most offering the opportunity to try new sports or activities. All the local emergency services were on hand demonstrating their equipment and giving advice, the fire engine proving very popular with the children.  Also proving very popular was the military zone where locally based military were there to meet the public and demonstrate some of their abilities. The RAF were a large part of this represented by RAF Marham who were showing the abilities of the F-35 with films while members of both 617 and 207 squadrons were there to meet the public and answer questions. Other areas of the RAF were also represented including catering, bomb disposal and logistics. The British Army were represented along with a Royal Navy careers display. New for 2022 was the live farming section where equipment including a combine were being demonstrated. Alongside this was the display of agricultural equipment covering the seventy years of Her Majesty the Queens reign.
