With people looking increasingly to holiday ‘at home’ I thought I would share out experience and recommend a glamping site in Suffolk with a difference. Happy Days Retro Vacations in Suffolk is a caravan park that has seven genuine American Airsteam caravans aged from 1959 to 1973 available to stay in, each imported from the United States and each with its own story and name. These are joined on the site by 1971 British built Sable caravan Elsie, a cozy little van for couples.

The main area sees the vans nicely spaced, each with an outside seating area and fire-pit, two of the vans are also dog friendly. No vehicles are allowed onto the site but parking is alongside and trollies are available to carry luggage from your vehicle to your van. The site also has a large shower and toilet block for use buy all the vans. Surrounded by trees and farmland the site is situated just a mile outside the town of Saxmundham and five miles away from the Suffolk coast. Around the site there is also a child’s play area that includes an old Army truck, a polytunnel chill out area, the vintage Red Shed cinema that is free for people staying on the site and two escape rooms.

The site owners Jenny and Kevin are very friendly and helpful. Following a chat on out arrival when they found out we shared their interest in vintage/ retro they were happy to recommend plenty of local shops we may like. When around the site they always asked how we were getting in and if we were enjoying out stay. For us this made the stay even more enjoyable and have already booked to stay again later this year.  The surrounding area has plenty to offer, during our stay we visited a number of towns along the coast, there is also a good amount of attractions to visit too. During our visit we stayed in Peggy a 1973 Tradewind, as she can cater for a family of five we had plenty of room inside. The interior is retro, we found her easy to use and even though we stayed in October warm too.

For further information, you can visit the website which has all you will need to know about the site. Each van has its own page along with a video to show how the van works.
