Norfolk’s biggest event of the year, the Royal Norfolk Show, organised by the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA), has today revealed its plans for 2019 showcasing a feast of fantastic farming, great food and live entertainment.

The country’s largest two-day county show, which takes place on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th June at the Norfolk Showground, offers visitors an unmatched range of activities, displays and experiences.

Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex will attend the first day of the show and fulfil a series of engagements as part of her role as this year’s President.

James Hill, the RNAA’s new Show Director, is particularly looking forward to his first show and said:

“This year will see a wonderful mix of food, farming and countryside with another impressive Grand Ring and entertainment line-up.  Once again, we will celebrate the very best the county has to offer, from showcasing the best in agriculture in our community, to welcoming some of the finest animals, competitors, farmers, musicians, horticulturalists, producers and artists from across the county.”

“Entries across all classes of livestock and equine are particularly strong and trade stand bookings are almost full.  Visitors’ tickets are available now with free parking if purchased online,” he added.

This year’s Grand Ring line up will feature the return of the hugely popular Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry and, for the first time, a parade of Rolls Royce’s from as far back as 1898.  The spectacular RAF Falcons parachute display team will be dropping in and to mark the NFU’s centenary there will be a pageant portraying farming’s progress since 1919.  Competition will be hot too – the enormously popular Horse of the Year Show qualifiers will bring out top-level showjumpers and the impressive Grand Parade, featuring each day’s livestock champions, will provide the traditional spectacle.

Other highlights across the showground include an even bigger horticultural area packed with gardeners, chefs and local producers, including Michael Perry, Mr Plant Geek and Ade Sellars of Agents of Field.  Showgoers will also be able to marvel at a host of massive farming machinery and high-tech equipment and meet rare breeds of sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry.

The very best of Norfolk produce will feature in the Adnams Food and Drink Experience and Flavours Food Hub where visitors will have the opportunity to discover, taste and sample a huge range of products.  It’s also where you’ll witness some of the county’s finest butchers demonstrating their unbelievable skills in The Art of Butchery theatre.

Live music will offer the perfect soundtrack at the Royal Norfolk Show.  Building on last year’s successful mid-summer evening programme, the Show will again stay open later.  Visitors will be able to enjoy the Show, stands and the food and drink hall and then join the party at a new mini-festival featuring live country music on the Wednesday evening. The line-up is set to be a strong mix of country and rock with local band, Morganway, delivering a fiery fusion of Americana country, rock and blues. Hot off the back of multiple performances at this year’s Country to Country Festival in London, the Norfolk-based band are receiving a wealth of accolades and their debut album is all set for release in early August. Also on the line-up providing the Sunset soundtrack to this special summer’s evening are Skerryvore, a Scottish ‘trad-rock’ fusion band. UK country/American band Sam Coe and The Long Shadows will also be peforming. You can also see Norwich-based singer/songwriter Lucy Grubb. BBC East’s Keith Greentree will host the stage, which is set to appeal to all ages.
