We attended the first day of the BARC’s two day meeting at Snetterton in Norfolk which saw the Britcar Endurance Championship headline. The day would see qualifying along with two one hour races for the Endurance Championship which also saw the Praga one-make sportscar Championship join the grid. During the day there would also be qualifying and races for Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup and the popular Dunlop Mini Challenge Miglia class while qualifying sessions would take place for Caterhams, Junior Saloon Car Championship, Mini Sevens and Supercarts. The day was one of two halves when it came to the weather as the morning saw heavy rain for much of the qualifying easing at mid-day and becoming bright for the afternoon.

The Britcar Endurance Championship had seen their qualifying take place in the heavy rain and while it had eased it was still wet for their first one-hour race. Starting on pole was the Fox Transport Nissan GT3 driven by Richard Wheeler and Danny Harrison, alongside them would be the FF Corse Ferrari of Booamy Grimes and the experienced Johnny Mowlem while the top Praga was the Three Lions car starting fifth in the hands of Gordie Much and Abbie Eaton. As the rain eased towards the end of the race it was the Scott Sport Ferrari 488 with the experienced pair of John Dhillon and Phil Quaife who came through to take the win with JMH Lamborghini of Jamie Stanley and John Searle second and the Grimes and Mowlem Ferrari third. In the Praga class it was the CW Performance car of Christopher Wesemael and Richard Morris who took the win in fifth overall with the Powerhouse Performance car of Charlie Martin and Jack Farby in second and sixth overall. Race two at the end of the day saw dry conditions with the Ferrari of Grimes and Mowlem starting on pole with the Nissan of Harrison and Wheeler alongside. Taking the win this time out by 21 seconds was the Lamborghini of Stanley and Searle from the Harrison and Wheeler Nissan while third overall was the winning Praga, again the CW car in the hands of Wesemael and Morris.

In the days other race action the Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup saw Shane Stoney take an easy pole in the heavy rain as James Goodwin joined him on the front row. They also had dry conditions for their thirty minute race. Providing good close racing through the twenty-four car field it was Stoney who took the win with Wayne Rockett in second and Alistair Dendy third. As with the Hyundai’s the Mini Miglia’s also had a wet qualifying but dry race. Taking pole was former British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan who narrowly beat former Miglia Champion Kane Astin who was to start the twenty-minute race in second. As the grid formed Kane was missing leaving Jordan alone on the front row and as the race started he was into a lead he was not to loose. Behind it was another former Miglia Champion, Rupert Deeth, who finished second in his Mini Spares car with Ben Colburn third.
