The AEC Society held their annual road run and rally at the Newark Showground during the second May Bank Holiday. Now well established on the historic commercial vehicle calendar the event saw over 300 classic commercials descend on the showground. Day one on Saturday saw a road run around the local area during the afternoon with a meal in the evening. Sunday saw a static display day with a number of extra vehicles joining the event.
Though the event is organised by the AEC Society participation is not restricted to just AEC vehicles. Other manufacturer clubs join the event including REVS, the society for ERF historic vehicles. These are also joined by other British marques including Bedford, Albion, Leyland and Foden. Vehicles on display included trucks in various configurations, buses, coaches, recovery vehicles, fair vehicles and emergency vehicles.
The vent saw participation from vehicles that had travelled from all around the United Kingdom including from Scotland and Northern Ireland. I n addition to the vehicles on display there were also a number of trade stands in a covered area offering models, photos, parts and clothing amongst other things all relating to commercial vehicles.
